Egypt to Begin First Exports of Farmed Fish Products to Europe

Egypt is preparing to begin exporting farmed fish products to Europe for the first time, marking a significant step for the country’s aquaculture and food export sectors.

According to officials, the move follows efforts to meet European quality, health, and food safety standards required for fish exports to EU markets. Authorities stated that preparations included inspections, regulatory procedures, and coordination between Egyptian institutions and European authorities.

The exports are expected to focus on farmed fish products produced through Egypt’s growing aquaculture industry, which has become one of the largest in Africa and the Middle East over recent years.

Officials described the development as an important milestone for Egypt’s agricultural and food exports, highlighting the country’s increasing ability to compete in international markets while diversifying export products beyond traditional agricultural crops.

The move is also expected to create new economic opportunities for fish farming companies, processing facilities, and related industries operating across Egypt’s aquaculture sector.

Egypt has invested heavily in fish farming and food production projects in recent years as part of broader efforts to strengthen food security, increase local production, and expand exports to global markets.

Authorities noted that entering European markets reflects growing international confidence in Egypt’s production standards and quality control systems within the fisheries and aquaculture industries.
