Cairo International Airport to Introduce New Passenger Travel App

Cairo International Airport is preparing to launch a new mobile application designed to improve the travel experience for passengers as the airport continues to witness significant growth in passenger traffic. The launch is expected by the end of May as part of wider digital transformation efforts across Egypt’s aviation sector.

According to the Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, passenger traffic at Cairo International Airport increased by approximately 37% during 2025, reaching nearly 31 million travellers. The airport is currently handling around 71,000 passengers daily, reinforcing its position as Egypt’s busiest aviation hub and one of the largest airports in Africa and the Middle East.

The new application has been under development for nearly two years and will connect directly to airport databases through a cyber-secure system. Travellers will be able to check flight schedules, purchase airline tickets, and reserve airport services such as limousine transportation through a single digital platform.

The launch forms part of a broader digital modernization strategy currently being implemented across airport operations. Alongside the passenger app, airport authorities have introduced an internal digital platform that allows administrative approvals and official procedures to be completed electronically through digital signatures and archived communications systems.

Officials stated that documents are now being processed and stored digitally on company servers, with future plans to connect the system to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and affiliated companies. The platform is also expected to expand to technical offices, permanent agents, and other airport-related entities to reduce delays previously caused by paper-based procedures.

Airport authorities added that employee training programmes have already begun to support the transition toward paperless operations, with the goal of reducing paper consumption, energy use, and administrative processing times.

The new travel app reflects Egypt’s growing investment in smart airport technologies and digital services as authorities continue efforts to improve operational efficiency, passenger convenience, and the overall travel experience at Cairo International Airport.
