Egypt to Offer First Natural Childbirth Free of Charge at Public Hospitals

Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population has announced a new initiative to offer first-time natural childbirth procedures free of charge at public hospitals across the country.

The programme aims to encourage natural deliveries while reducing financial pressure on families and supporting maternal healthcare services within public medical facilities.

According to officials, the initiative will apply to eligible women giving birth for the first time through natural delivery at government hospitals participating in the programme. Authorities stated that the move forms part of broader healthcare strategies focused on improving maternal and child health services nationwide.

The ministry also noted that the initiative aims to raise awareness around the benefits of natural childbirth while helping reduce unnecessary reliance on cesarean deliveries, which have seen increasing rates in recent years.

Public hospitals participating in the programme are expected to provide the necessary medical care, monitoring, and maternity services throughout the childbirth process without additional delivery costs for eligible patients.

Officials described the initiative as part of wider efforts to strengthen healthcare accessibility and improve the quality of reproductive and maternal health services available through Egypt’s public healthcare system.

The programme reflects ongoing government efforts to support families through expanded healthcare initiatives while improving medical services for women and newborns across the country.
