The beloved Egyptian sitcom Ragel W Set Setat is preparing to return for an eleventh season, nearly nine years after its most recent episodes were filmed.
Preparations are underway for the revival, which is expected to reunite several members of the original cast, led by Ashraf Abdel Baki as Adel and Sameh Hussein as his famously troublesome cousin Ramzy. Filming and release details have not yet been formally announced.
The Return of a Classic Egyptian Sitcom
First released in 2006, Ragel W Set Setat became one of Egypt’s best-known sitcoms and helped popularize the format with local television audiences.
The series follows Adel, the only man living in a home with six women: his wife, daughter, mother, mother-in-law, sister and sister-in-law. Their contrasting personalities and constant demands repeatedly place him at the centre of chaotic family situations.
Outside the house, Adel also has to deal with Ramzy, his unpredictable cousin and colleague at the family’s bazaar, whose ideas often create even more problems.
Ashraf Abdel Baki and Sameh Hussein Expected to Reunite
The upcoming season is expected to bring Ashraf Abdel Baki and Sameh Hussein back together in the roles of Adel and Ramzy, one of the show’s most memorable comedy pairings.
Reports have also linked original cast members Liqaa El Khamissy, Entissar, Menna Arafa and Inaam El Gretly with the new season, although the complete cast has yet to be officially confirmed.
The return of the original ensemble will be central to recreating the family dynamic that defined the series across its previous ten seasons.
New Stories for a Familiar Family
Season 11 is expected to revisit the same household years later, allowing the series to explore how its characters and their relationships have changed over time.
The format gives the writers room to address contemporary family life, generational differences and everyday social issues while preserving the situational comedy and fast-moving misunderstandings associated with the original show.
Director Assad Fouladkar previously noted that the concept could support additional seasons because family problems continually evolve, especially as Adel’s daughter grows older and begins facing challenges of her own.
The Absence of Maha Abu Ouf
One of the key questions surrounding the revival is how the series will address the absence of Maha Abu Ouf, who played Magda, Adel’s mother-in-law.
The actress died in 2022 after appearing throughout the show’s earlier run. It remains unclear whether the character will be written out, recast or acknowledged through a new storyline.
The production previously faced a similar change following the death of Zizi Mostafa, who originally played Adel’s mother before Inaam El Gretly joined the cast in the role.
When Will Season 11 Be Released?
Although work on the eleventh season has been reported since late 2025, the project has experienced delays connected to the cast’s other commitments. Earlier reports suggested that filming had been postponed after initially being expected to begin in 2026.
More recent updates indicate that preparations are continuing, but no confirmed filming date, broadcaster or premiere window has been revealed.
The original ninth and tenth seasons were filmed in 2015 and began airing in 2016, making the upcoming revival the show’s first new instalment in approximately nine years.
With its familiar characters and nostalgic appeal, the return of Ragel W Set Setat is likely to attract longtime viewers while introducing one of Egypt’s most successful sitcoms to a new generation.
