Egypt’s medical tourism sector witnessed significant growth in 2025, with revenues reaching approximately $8 million — a sharp increase of nearly 77% compared to $3.7 million recorded in 2024, according to data released by the Egypt Healthcare Authority.
Over the course of the year, healthcare facilities across the country provided treatment services to around 35,000 international patients representing 124 different countries, reflecting Egypt’s expanding presence in the global medical tourism market.
Ahmed Elsobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, attributed this growth to continuous improvements in healthcare quality and operational standards across affiliated medical facilities. These advancements, he noted, have played a key role in building trust among international patients seeking treatment in Egypt.
As part of its long-term strategy, the authority is working to position Egypt as a competitive medical tourism destination under the initiative titled “In Egypt, We Care.” The approach focuses on offering specialized treatment packages that meet international benchmarks while remaining cost-effective.
In addition, efforts are underway to enhance the patient experience through the implementation of a comprehensive digital system designed to manage the full treatment journey — from initial inquiry to post-treatment follow-up.
The authority is also expanding collaborations with private insurance companies and international medical brokers to increase patient inflows and strengthen Egypt’s global reach in the sector.
The latest figures highlight Egypt’s growing potential as a regional hub for healthcare services, supported by a combination of affordability, quality care, and ongoing sector reforms.
