Emam Ashour has committed his future to Al Ahly, signing a contract extension that will keep the Egyptian international midfielder at the club until 2030.
Al Ahly officially announced the new agreement on August 26, confirming that all administrative and financial procedures had been completed following a meeting between Ashour and Essam Serag El-Din, Head of the Contracts Sector, in coordination with football director Wael Gomaa.
The new deal puts an end to recent speculation surrounding the 28-year-old’s future and reinforces Al Ahly’s determination to keep one of its most influential players for the coming years.
Emam Ashour Commits His Future to Al Ahly
According to Al Ahly’s official announcement, Ashour expressed his gratitude to the club and its supporters during the signing meeting and made clear his desire to continue his career with the Red Devils.
The extension ensures that Ashour will remain under contract until 2030, giving Al Ahly long-term security over a player who has become a central figure in the team since arriving in Cairo three years ago.
Ashour later underlined his attachment to the club on social media, writing “Al Ahly is life to me” following the announcement of his renewal.
Al Ahly Rejected Turkish Interest in Ashour
The contract extension comes shortly after Al Ahly publicly rejected an offer from Turkish side Konyaspor for the midfielder.
On August 18, the Egyptian champions confirmed that Konyaspor had submitted an offer worth $4.5 million, payable over three years, for Ashour’s services.
Al Ahly responded with an official letter informing the Turkish club that Ashour was not for sale this season, effectively closing the door on a summer departure.
Extending his contract only days later sends an even clearer message about the club’s plans for the midfielder.
Ashour had attracted renewed interest following his performances for Egypt at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he scored twice during the tournament.
A Key Player Since Joining Al Ahly
Ashour joined Al Ahly in July 2023 following a spell with Danish side FC Midtjylland, quickly establishing himself as an important part of the club’s midfield.
By the time his new contract was announced, he had made 105 appearances in all competitions, scoring 32 goals and providing 25 assists — an impressive attacking return for a midfielder.
His time at the club has also been filled with silverware.
Ashour has helped Al Ahly win multiple major trophies, including the Egyptian Premier League, CAF Champions League, Egypt Cup and Egyptian Super Cup, adding to his status as one of the team’s most prominent players.
His ability to contribute goals from midfield, carry the ball forward and influence major matches has made him an increasingly important part of Al Ahly’s squad.
Al Ahly Secure One of Their Biggest Stars
The decision to extend Ashour’s contract represents an important piece of long-term business for Al Ahly.
Rather than entertain significant overseas interest, the club has chosen to secure the midfielder for the years ahead as it continues competing for domestic and continental titles.
For Ashour, the agreement also confirms his intention to continue building his legacy in the red shirt after a successful first three years with the Cairo giants.
With his future now settled until 2030, attention can return fully to the pitch as Ashour looks to add more goals, appearances and trophies to his Al Ahly career.
