EgyptAir and FC Barcelona have announced a new three-season global partnership, bringing together Egypt’s national carrier and one of the world’s biggest sporting clubs in an agreement running through the 2028/29 season.
Under the deal, EgyptAir becomes a Global Partner of FC Barcelona as well as the club’s Exclusive Official Airline for its men’s first football team, basketball team and handball team. The partnership was officially announced on August 26, 2026.
The agreement significantly expands EgyptAir’s presence in international sports while giving Barcelona another platform to strengthen its connections with supporters across the Middle East and Africa.
EgyptAir Becomes Barcelona’s Exclusive Official Airline
The partnership extends beyond Barcelona’s world-famous football team.
EgyptAir will hold exclusive airline partnership rights across the club’s men’s football, basketball and handball teams, making the agreement one of the airline’s most prominent international sponsorship deals.
EgyptAir will also receive particularly visible branding through Barcelona’s handball team, with the airline’s logo set to appear on the front of the team’s shirts during matches.
Additional marketing and promotional benefits will form part of the agreement throughout its three-season duration.
Partnership Runs Through the 2028/29 Season
The agreement will remain in place until the conclusion of the 2028/29 sporting season, giving both brands several years to develop campaigns and international activations around the partnership.
For EgyptAir, the sponsorship comes as the company continues a wider growth strategy centered on expanding its international route network, modernizing its fleet, improving the passenger experience and strengthening its position in markets around the world.
The airline currently connects Egypt with more than 85 destinations across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America and is a member of the Star Alliance global aviation network.
EgyptAir Looks to Football’s Global Audience
Captain Ahmed Adel, President of the EgyptAir Holding Company, described the agreement as an unprecedented achievement for the national carrier.
He highlighted the combination of EgyptAir’s long history with Barcelona’s international sporting influence, saying the partnership could open new opportunities for the airline to connect with football supporters around the world.
Founded in 1932, EgyptAir is approaching a century of operations and remains one of the oldest airlines in the Middle East and Africa.
The Barcelona partnership gives the carrier access to an enormous international sporting audience at a time when it is working to expand both its network and global brand recognition.
Barcelona Targets Stronger Middle East and Africa Presence
The agreement is equally significant for FC Barcelona, particularly as the club continues expanding its commercial presence outside Europe.
Marc Bruix, FC Barcelona’s Global Sponsorships Director, said the partnership would help Barcelona bring the club and its identity closer to its supporters across the Middle East and Africa, two regions where Barça has developed a substantial fan base.
Barcelona said the deal forms part of its strategy to broaden the global reach of the Barça brand, enter new markets and strengthen its status as one of the most internationally influential sporting organizations.
Two Historic Brands Join Forces
The partnership brings together two organizations with long histories in their respective industries.
EgyptAir has operated for more than nine decades, while FC Barcelona has grown from a Spanish football club into a global sports brand with major professional teams competing across several disciplines.
For EgyptAir, associating its name with Barcelona offers considerable international exposure and creates new opportunities to promote Egypt’s national carrier to sports fans across multiple markets.
For Barcelona, the deal provides a major new aviation partner with particularly strong connections to Egypt, Africa and the Middle East.
With the agreement now in place through 2028/29, EgyptAir’s name will become increasingly visible alongside the Barcelona brand over the next three seasons as both sides begin rolling out their new global partnership.
