Egypt’s Ministry of Culture is preparing to launch the country’s first virtual cultural palace through a new digital platform called e-Sakafa, marking a major step toward expanding access to cultural and educational content online.
The project is being developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and is designed to connect audiences with cultural activities, artistic performances, workshops, and educational programmes taking place across Egypt’s network of cultural palaces.
According to officials, the platform will serve as a central digital hub where users can explore cultural content remotely, participate in activities online, and access artistic and educational resources from different governorates without needing to attend events in person.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernise Egypt’s cultural infrastructure and increase public engagement with arts, literature, theatre, and creative programming through digital technology.
As part of the rollout, cultural palaces across the country are expected to receive upgraded digital services, including internet access and interactive “Work Place” systems that will support virtual participation in cultural and educational activities.
The e-Sakafa platform will also feature performances, workshops, cultural publications, and creative content produced by cultural palaces nationwide, while helping artists and creators reach wider audiences through digital channels.
Alongside the virtual cultural palace project, the Ministry of Culture is developing additional digital applications related to cultural events and performances, including platforms that provide schedules, programme details, and access to artistic activities taking place across Egypt.
The launch reflects Egypt’s growing investment in digital cultural initiatives as authorities continue exploring new ways to combine technology with arts, education, and heritage preservation while reaching younger and more connected audiences.
