Egypt secured its first-ever FIFA World Cup victory after coming from behind to defeat New Zealand 3–1 in a historic Group G encounter.
The Pharaohs delivered a determined second-half performance to claim three crucial points and move to the top of the group following their opening draw against Belgium.

Mahmoud Hassan “Trézéguet” sealed the historic win in the 82nd minute with Egypt’s third goal of the night, sparking celebrations among fans both inside the stadium and across the country.
The result marks a milestone moment for Egyptian football. Despite multiple appearances at the World Cup, Egypt had never previously recorded a victory in the tournament.
