February 26 — Giza: Egypt’s Cabinet has approved plans to restore and repurpose King Farouk’s historic rest house located within the Pyramids archaeological area.
According to an official government statement, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities will appoint a specialized company to carry out the restoration work and manage the building’s future use.
The project aims to preserve the architectural and historical significance of the structure while transforming it into a cultural venue. Once restored, the rest house will serve as a space for displaying artworks and historical artifacts.
Plans for the site include hosting exhibitions and working in collaboration with local and international galleries, helping to integrate the venue into broader cultural exchange initiatives.
The rest house is situated within the protected Pyramids archaeological zone, one of Egypt’s most important heritage areas. The Cabinet emphasized that the restoration project will balance conservation efforts with a clear plan to open the site to the public as a cultural and exhibition center.
