Two Days After the Attack… Egyptian Doctors Save young Boy from Amputation

Egyptian Doctors Save Young Boy from Amputation in 12-Hour Life-Changing Surgery

A young boy, Mohamed Ahmed Morsi, who suffered a severe shotgun injury to his leg in Basous, has been saved from lifelong disability thanks to the extraordinary efforts of the medical team at Nasser Institute Hospital.

When Mohamed was admitted, his leg had been reduced to exposed bone — with no muscles, tissues, or blood vessels intact. Despite the severity of the injury, the medical team refused to opt for amputation. Instead, they performed a highly delicate 12-hour microsurgical operation, transferring a muscle flap from his back to reconstruct his leg. Under a microscope, surgeons meticulously reconnected tiny arteries, veins, and nerves — an especially challenging task given the extremely small size of blood vessels in children.

The surgery was completed without complications or infection, and thankfully, it was a success.

Not in Germany. Not in the United States.

Right here in Egypt — by Egyptian doctors, in an Egyptian hospital.

Wishing Mohamed a full and speedy recovery.

A heartfelt thank you to the incredible medical team who made this possible
