Egyptian actor Amr Saad has won a major acting honor at the 2026 Murex d’Or Awards, receiving the award for Arab Egyptian Actor in Egyptian Drama for his performance in the Ramadan series Efrag.
Saad was recognized for his portrayal of Abbas El Rayes, the central character in the drama, which aired during Ramadan 2026 and placed him at the center of a dark story of imprisonment, guilt and redemption.
The 26th edition of the Murex d’Or Awards brought together leading names from the Arab entertainment industry at Casino du Liban in Lebanon in September 2026.

The award recognizes Saad’s performance as Abbas El Rayes in Efrag, one of his most psychologically demanding recent television roles.
The series follows Abbas after he leaves prison following years behind bars and attempts to rebuild his life while confronting the consequences of his past.
The show combines social drama, suspense and thriller elements, with its story described as being inspired by true events.

The series was directed by Ahmed Khaled Moussa, with writing credits including Ahmed Halba, Mohamed Fawzy and Ahmed Bakr.

Mai Omar received the Murex for Arab Egyptian Actress in Egyptian Drama for her performance in El Set Mona Lisa.
In music, Ramy Sabry was honored as Arab Singing Star, while Ahmed Saad received recognition as Popular Arab Singing Star and for his hit song Maksarat.
The distinction is important because Ahmed Saad and Amr Saad both received awards at the ceremony, but in completely different categories: Amr Saad was recognized for acting, while Ahmed Saad was honored for music.
