Mohamed Sallam Reportedly Not Returning for Nelly w Sherihan 2

Egyptian actor Mohamed Sallam may not return for the second season of Nelly w Sherihan, as preparations continue for the comedy series’ highly anticipated comeback during the Ramadan 2027 drama season.

Recent reports have raised questions over Sallam’s involvement in the sequel, ten years after he appeared as Hani El-Dabdoub in the original series alongside Donia Samir Ghanem, Amy Samir Ghanem and Mostafa Khater.

However, Sallam’s absence has not been officially confirmed. Producer Ahmed El-Sobky has denied reports claiming that the actor was formally excluded from the project, stressing that the series remains in the writing and preparation stage and that its complete cast has yet to be finalized.

Mohamed Sallam Has Yet to Join the Confirmed Cast

While Sallam has not officially been ruled out, the actors currently confirmed for the second season reportedly include Donia Samir Ghanem, Amy Samir Ghanem, Mostafa Khater and Ali Sobhy.

According to a report published on August 31, those four actors have signed contracts, while agreements with the remainder of the cast are still pending. The same report stressed that no actor has officially been brought in to replace Sallam.

Another recent report, citing a source close to the production, said that Sallam had not yet been contacted or contracted for the new season despite earlier comments denying that he had been excluded.

That leaves his status uncertain rather than confirming his departure.

Ahmed El-Sobky Responds to the Rumors

El-Sobky previously dismissed reports that Sallam had been removed from Nelly w Sherihan 2, explaining that the scripts were still being written and that it was too early to announce a final cast.

More recently, the producer said the second season would move forward whether or not Mohamed Sallam and Bayoumi Fouad participate, pointing out that the central stars of the series remain Donia and Amy Samir Ghanem.

The comments suggest that while a return for Sallam remains possible, his participation is not currently essential to the production plans.

Mohamed Sallam’s Memorable Role in the Original Series

Sallam was an important part of the first season, which aired during Ramadan 2016.

He played Hani, one of the characters closely connected to Nelly and Sherihan throughout their comedic adventure. The original 30-episode series starred Donia Samir Ghanem as Nelly and Amy Samir Ghanem as Sherihan, with Sallam, Mostafa Khater, Salwa Khattab and Bayoumi Fouad among its ensemble cast.

The story followed two cousins from very different backgrounds who were forced to work together as they searched for their grandfather’s inheritance and attempted to solve the clues he left behind.

Sallam’s performance became one of the memorable elements of the comedy, making speculation surrounding his potential absence from the sequel particularly noticeable among fans of the original.

‘Nelly w Sherihan’ Returns After 10 Years

The second season marks the return of Nelly w Sherihan more than a decade after its original run, with Donia and Amy Samir Ghanem once again expected to lead the series.

The sequel is currently being prepared for Ramadan 2027, although many details surrounding its storyline and supporting cast remain under development.

Reports have also indicated that preparations are underway for new musical numbers featuring Donia Samir Ghanem, continuing the mix of comedy and music associated with the original production.

For now, Mohamed Sallam’s return remains unresolved. He has not been announced among the actors who have signed for the new season, but neither El-Sobky nor the production has officially confirmed that he will not appear.

Until the final cast is announced, reports of his departure should therefore be treated as unconfirmed rather than definitive.
