Water supply will be temporarily suspended for 24 hours in several areas across Cairo on Friday, March 27, as part of ongoing efforts to improve the city’s water infrastructure.
The planned interruption will affect Nasr City (excluding Zahraa Nasr City), Manshiet Nasser, and the Third Settlement. According to the Cairo Drinking Water Company, the shutdown is necessary to allow for the connection of a new 1400 mm water pipeline in Zahraa El Maadi, a key step in upgrading and maintaining the distribution network.
Officials stated that technical teams and equipment have already been deployed to carry out the work efficiently, with the goal of restoring water supply as quickly as possible once the installation is complete. The company emphasized that the temporary disruption is essential to support long-term improvements in service quality and network reliability.
Hospitals, bakeries, and other essential services in the affected areas have been advised to take precautionary measures and secure adequate water supplies ahead of the scheduled cut.
To support residents during the outage, water tankers will be distributed free of charge throughout impacted neighborhoods. Citizens can request water delivery through the company’s hotline or via its WhatsApp service.
Authorities are urging residents to plan ahead and store sufficient water to cover their needs during the interruption period.
