Zawya Shorts Film Festival Announces 10th Edition Jury

March 3 — Cairo: Zawya Cinema has announced the jury panel for the 10th edition of its annual Zawya Shorts Film Festival, featuring what organizers describe as the youngest jury lineup in the festival’s history.

The jury includes Egyptian filmmaker and screenwriter Omar El Zohairy, known for his award-winning debut feature Feathers (2021), which received recognition at the Cannes Film Festival. Also serving on the panel is writer and director Noha Adel, whose latest film Spring Came on Laughing (2025) has drawn critical praise.

Joining them is Egyptian-British actor and producer Amir El Masry, who won a Scottish BAFTA in 2022 for his role in Limbo and was named a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit. His recent acting credits include appearances in The Crown (2023) and Giant (2026).

The festival’s 10th edition will feature 28 Egyptian short films competing for the main awards. The program will also include film screenings and discussions with participating filmmakers.

Winners of the festival’s awards are scheduled to be announced on Saturday, March 7.
