Donia Samir Ghanem and Amy Samir Ghanem are preparing to reunite on television for a second season of their popular comedy series Nelly & Sherihan, which is expected to join the Ramadan 2027 drama lineup.
Early reports suggested that the sisters were holding intensive discussions with producer Ahmed El Sobky to explore the possibility of reviving the series. More recent coverage, however, indicates that preparations have moved forward, with both stars reportedly attached to the sequel and filming expected to begin in September once the remaining cast agreements are completed.
The original Nelly & Sherihan premiered during Ramadan 2016 and became one of the season’s most memorable comedy productions. The series followed two cousins with completely different personalities who were brought together by a search for a family inheritance, leading them through a chaotic journey filled with mysteries and comic situations.
Alongside Donia and Amy Samir Ghanem, the first season featured Mohamed Sallam, Mostafa Khater and Salwa Khattab. It was written by Mostafa Sakr and directed by Ahmed El Gendy.
Reports suggest that the new season will revisit the characters more than a decade later, revealing how their lives and relationships have changed since the events of the original series. Full story details and the complete returning cast have not yet been officially revealed.
The project would mark a highly anticipated on-screen reunion for the sisters, whose chemistry was a major part of the original show’s popularity. With preparations reportedly underway, Nelly & Sherihan 2 is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched Egyptian comedy projects ahead of Ramadan 2027.
