Reports published on June 27 claimed that the Premier League club had contacted Al Ahly to discuss a potential summer transfer, with a proposed deal reportedly valued at around $17 million. The speculation followed earlier reports that Villa scouts and members of the club’s goalkeeping staff had been monitoring Shobeir during Egypt’s World Cup campaign.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper emerged as one of Egypt’s standout performers during the tournament, attracting attention with his composure, reflexes and performances on football’s biggest stage. His growing reputation has reportedly placed him on the radar of several European clubs.
